In 2011, I won an invited competition for a new web design for The Danish Dance Theater. This developed into a cooperation where I designed the logo, full identity, website and all posters, flyers, etc., between 2011 and 2015.
Tim Rushton, who was also the Artistic Director of the Danish Dance Theater at that time, is one of the most prize-winning choreographers in Denmark. It was my intention to reflect and capture his work and untraditional fragmented ballet movements in the logo while at the same time maintaining strict logo shape. I cut the top off the large “C’s” to make it more dynamic and dancing.
Recommendation letter
In 2011, the Danish Dance Theater announced an invited competition for a new website. We found that Jon Glarbo presented an expressive and strong layout, leading us to initiate a collaboration with him. This collaboration eventually led to the design of a new logo and a completely new identity for the company. As Denmark’s largest and most award-winning contemporary dance company, it is important for us to stand out from other dance companies. Jon created a unique logo for us that reflects our personality. The logo has since been further developed to also become a typographic pattern, and the two elements together have become the main visual expression of our identity. We have chosen to continue the good collaboration with Jon, who now also designs all our posters, flyers, programs, etc. We highly recommend Jon as a skilled and dedicated graphic designer and collaborator.
Best regards,
Artistic Director
